Uncover the Tastes of Mayan Chocolate

Diego’s Mission
Like many Mayan kids Diego learned how to prepare chocolate from his abuela, or grandmother. Fast forward to about 1990.
Looking for ways to support his young family, Diego adapted abuela’s sipping chocolate recipe into one that could be packaged, sold, and enjoyed by visitors to his home town on the shores of Lake Atitlan. After experimenting and refining his own technique, the soft chocolate rolls that we know and love today were born.
This is the genesis of Diego’s Chocolate: an ancient tradition adapted to modern times by indigenous artisans and entrepreneurs.
Where Less Becomes More
What's not in our chocolate is just as important as what is. No lecithin. No preservatives. No artificial flavors. This simplicity creates a chocolate experience that's pure, authentic, and surprisingly complex.
The result? Smooth, soft, naturally creamy dark chocolate that surprises even those who think they don't like dark chocolate.

Taste the Difference
Our customers often tell us they didn't know dark chocolate could taste this way. That's because most haven't tried chocolate made this fresh, this pure, this close to the source.
Many years ago, one of them was even inspired to start his own chocolate business:
"Finding Diego’s Chocolate in Lake Atitlan was a revelation to me. Never before had I tasted “true” chocolate. It led me on a journey of discovery which resulted in me starting my own chocolate making business, so I could share the discovery with others." - Hogarth Chocolate (New Zealand)
